20. Simple Questions and Answers in Russian
Lesson Objective:
By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to ask and answer basic questions in Russian using common question words and simple sentence structures.

Grammar Point:
In Russian, simple questions often begin with a question word such as “Кто,” “Что,” or “Где.”
The word order may change compared to English, but in very basic questions, it often matches the English order.
When answering, simple statements using “Это” (this/it) or a subject followed by a verb are common.
Examples:
- Кто это? – Who is this?
- Это мой брат. – This is my brother.
- Где он? – Where is he?
- Он дома. – He is at home.
- Что это? – What is this?
- Это книга. – It is a book.

Practice the following dialogue with a partner:
– Кто это?
– Это мой друг.
– Где он сейчас?

Then, create your own short dialogues using the question words you have learned.
